During the mission to China, the Russians learned which Chinese developments are applicable in the north.

The results of a working trip to China by a delegation of Russian Arctic experts have been summed up. The parties agreed to develop cooperation in the field of construction of permafrost facilities, digitalization of marine logistics, greening shipping and creating the infrastructure of the Transarctic Transport Corridor.

Russian and Chinese experts assessed the prospects for the introduction of technologies in the Arctic zone of Russia that have already proved their effectiveness in China. Expert meetings and exchange of experience were organized by the Arctic Development Project Office (PORA) together with Chinese partners in Qingdao and Shanghai. The Russian delegation included representatives of PORA, large industrial companies, the Federal State Budgetary Institution "Institute of Global Climate and Ecology named after Academician Yu.A. Israel" and the University of Moscow State University in Shenzhen.

One of the key results of the trip was a discussion of the possibilities of using Chinese technologies to develop the transport and port infrastructure of the Arctic. We are talking about digital marine logistics management systems, monitoring the energy efficiency of ships, ballast water treatment technologies, as well as solutions to reduce emissions in shipping.

The participants paid special attention to the development of the Northern Sea Route and the Transarctic Transport Corridor. During the expert discussions, issues of digitalization of Arctic ports, increasing the efficiency of cargo transportation and increasing the duration of navigation were considered.

Permafrost construction technologies may become a separate area of cooperation. Chinese experts presented their experience in designing port, road and railway infrastructure in difficult climatic conditions, which may be in demand when implementing large-scale projects in the Russian Arctic.

Following the talks, the Chinese partners confirmed their interest in developing scientific and technical cooperation with Russia. The joint work focuses on the analysis of infrastructure projects, the improvement of maritime logistics, the introduction of climate technologies and solutions for the sustainable development of the Arctic territories.
