China to invest almost $300 billion in infrastructure for AI development

ИИ

China plans to spend about $295 billion on large-scale construction of data centers.

Over the next five years, China will invest about 2 trillion yuan (about $295 billion) in creating a network of data centers across the country, Bloomberg reports, citing sources. The project is considered one of Beijing's largest digital infrastructure initiatives.

According to the plans, Chinese technology companies, including Huawei Technologies, will play a key role in the implementation of the program. It is expected that at least 80% of the equipment and technologies, including processors for AI, will be produced domestically.

Analysts call the initiative China's largest bet on the accelerated development of artificial intelligence, despite rising budget constraints and government debt. At the same time, experts note that the created computing network should combine regional resources and expand business access to high-performance computing, although the scale of investments in the Chinese plan is still inferior to similar expenses in the United States.
