After the launch of the special customs regime of the free trade port in Hainan, foreign investors noticeably intensified their activities in the province.

From December 2025 to the end of April 2026, 1,016 new enterprises with foreign capital were registered in Hainan, which is 35.5% more than in the same period last year. The growing business interest is attributed to the benefits of the free trade port, including an expanded list of duty-free goods and new mechanisms to support international trade.

Foreign companies are increasingly considering Hainan not only as a platform for entering the Chinese market, but also as a regional center for work in the Asia-Pacific region. The province implements projects in industry, energy and high-tech sectors, including the production of medical materials and research and development.

One of the centers of business activity was the Fuxingcheng Industrial Park in Haikou, where, after the introduction of the new regime, more than 2 thousand companies were registered, about a hundred of which have foreign capital. According to experts, the further growth of Hainan's investment attractiveness will depend on the development of industry clusters and the continuation of institutional reforms.
