The 33rd session of the Joint Russian-Chinese Border Commission was held in Moscow. The parties discussed the development of border checkpoints and cross-border infrastructure, which provide a growing volume of cargo transportation, as well as business and tourist trips. The Russian Foreign Ministry noted the effective cooperation of the relevant departments of the two countries in these areas.
The meeting participants discussed current issues related to the implementation of the agreement on the regime of the Russian-Chinese state border dated November 9, 2006. It was emphasized that both sides strictly comply with its provisions and strengthen cooperation to maintain a friendly atmosphere at the border and in the border regions. The high level of cooperation between the competent authorities of Russia and China in the field of law enforcement at the border was noted on both sides.
In addition, the parties discussed the preparation of intergovernmental agreements aimed at improving the efficiency of transport links. Special attention was paid to the issues of transboundary waters: flood control and coastal protection on border rivers. The session was held in the traditionally friendly and constructive atmosphere typical of Russian-Chinese relations.
