The Chinese National Space Administration (CNSA) has launched an integrated asteroid monitoring and early warning system. According to the Xinhua news agency, we are talking about a complex of ground-based telescopes and an orbital constellation that will ensure constant monitoring of near-Earth space. The project is currently at the stage of a feasibility study.
The new system will become a key element of planetary protection: it will allow timely detection of dangerous objects and prevent collisions. The integration of ground-based and space-based surveillance facilities will ensure continuous monitoring of asteroids that may cross Earth's orbit.
The development of the asteroid program is part of China's large—scale space strategy, which includes launches of weather satellites, telecommunications and navigation devices, and exploration of the Moon and Mars. In 2025, China set a national record for the number of space launches — 92 launches. China's space station also remains open to international cooperation, which confirms the country's commitment to integration into global space projects.
