Kazakhstan and China are discussing the launch of new regional flights and the creation of a joint airline

Kazakhstan and China intend to expand their geographic network of scheduled passenger services.

According to the Civil Aviation Committee (CAC), Kazakhstan's Vice Minister of Transport, Talgat Lastayev, met with Zhang Liang, Vice President of China's Urumqi Airlines, during which the parties discussed specific plans for opening new routes.
According to the agreements reached, flights between Urumqi and Karaganda, as well as between Kuldzha (Yining) and Astana, and Kuldzha and Almaty may be launched in the near future. For their part, the Kazakh delegation proposed exploring the possibility of establishing flights to Ust-Kamenogorsk, Semey, and the new regional airports of Zaysan and Katon-Karagay.
The development of air service is intended to stimulate tourism, improve transport logistics, and strengthen trade and economic ties between the two countries. Particular attention was paid to technical equipment during the negotiations: Urumqi Airlines operates Chinese-made COMAC C909 aircraft. The parties discussed the prospect of establishing a joint regional airline in Kazakhstan that would use these aircraft to transport passengers to tourist destinations, including Zaysan and Katon-Karagay. Following the meeting, the parties confirmed their strong interest in deepening cooperation in civil aviation.
