Chen Yongjun, the acting Consul General of the People's Republic of China in Khabarovsk, stated that it is necessary to increase the number of direct flights between Russia and China. Speaking at the plenary session of the Second Russian‑Chinese Forum, the diplomat noted that this would make it possible to ensure a freer movement of people and goods in the border areas of the two countries. He also proposed making more active use of the visa‑free regime, deepening humanitarian cooperation, and expanding student exchanges, including summer camps, sports competitions, and art festivals.
Chen Yongjun emphasized the importance of training young professionals who are fluent in the language and culture of the neighbouring country so that the traditions of Russian‑Chinese friendship are passed down from generation to generation. The diplomat also called for carefully preserving the shared historical memory: maintaining memorial sites in proper condition, organizing visits to memorable places by young people, systematizing archival materials, and supporting the publication of new works that reflect the shared history.
The II Russian-Chinese Forum is taking place in Khabarovsk on September 4–6 under the motto “Bolshoy Ussuriysky: Cooperation in the Joint Development of the Island.” Its program includes more than 40 business and cultural events. About 4,000 people from 21 regions of Russia and 14 provinces of China, representing business, government, and the expert community, are participating.
