The meeting between Russian Energy Minister Sergei Tsivilev and Wang Hongzhi, head of the State Energy Administration of the People's Republic of China, took place at the 16th APEC Energy Ministers’ Meeting. The parties discussed promising areas of cooperation in the oil and gas sector and the power industry, and also paid attention to strengthening the Russian‑Chinese energy partnership and expanding contacts between relevant agencies. As noted by the Russian Ministry of Energy, Tsivilev and Wang Hongzhi emphasized the importance of maintaining regular dialogue and exchanged views on the sectoral agenda.
During the APEC events, issues related to the balanced development of the energy sector were also considered, taking into account national conditions and the growing demand for energy, including against the backdrop of the digitalization of the region’s economies. Russia and China continue to coordinate their efforts in the energy sector, which reflects the strategic nature of their bilateral partnership and their mutual interest in the sustainable development of the industry.
Energy cooperation remains one of the key areas of interaction between the two countries. Regular contacts between relevant agencies make it possible to respond promptly to changes in market conditions and jointly develop projects in the oil and gas and power sectors, which is in the interests of both sides.
