The elections to the State Duma in Hong Kong will be held early, on September 19. This was reported by the press secretary of the Russian Consulate General, Consul Ekaterina Bogucharskaya. The Consulate General is fully prepared to conduct the voting: cooperation has been established with the Hong Kong authorities, the representative office of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, and the administration of the building where the polling station is located.
On voting day, the order and safety of citizens will be ensured by Hong Kong police officers, who will be on duty near the polling station. As Bogucharskaya noted, there are about 1,500 Russian citizens living in Hong Kong and Macau. Over the course of a month, they were regularly informed about the date and procedure for holding the elections so that everyone who wished could take part.
Voting will take place on a single date throughout China, including Hong Kong and Macau, on September 19. The Consulate General continues to work to ensure the voting rights of Russian citizens abroad.
