According to the Federal Customs Service, Tolmachevo airport staff stopped a tourist arriving on a Sanya—Novosibirsk flight while passing through the "green corridor". 22 corals with a total weight of about 200 grams were found in his luggage. These sites are subject to the international convention governing trade in endangered species of wild fauna and flora.
The passenger explained that he did not know about the need to declare and brought souvenirs to remember the trip. Two administrative protocols have been drawn up against him for non-declaration of goods and violation of established restrictions, and he faces a fine.
The FCS recalled that such cases are not isolated: previously, attempts to import corals from foreign resorts without proper registration had already been recorded at Russian airports.
